Has “Pomp and Circumstance” been playing in your head lately? If so, maybe it’s because two MacKay Sposito employees graduated from college this past week! That’s right, our own Marissa Delgado and Colleen Daly celebrated the ends of their college journeys by dressing in oversized gowns, listening to speeches, walking across the stage in front of family and friends, and of course listening to the numbing strains of “Pomp and Circumstance.”
Marissa earned her Bachelorof Applied Science in Project Management from Columbia Basin College. The program included classes in project planning, project management software, procurement, risk management, HR management, communications skills, and project monitoring, control, and earned value. Her favorite class was American Diversity, which covered a variety of topics such as immigration and gender issues.
Marissa will miss the camaraderie she had with her fellow students who, like her, took their classes at night after working all day. That’s a special challenge, and it makes her accomplishment that much more noteworthy.
Colleen continued a family tradition by graduating from the University of Oregon (her four siblings and mother are also U of O alums). She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus in management. Her coursework included organizational development and change management, HR management, and negotiation strategies. While her favorite class was Organizational Development and Change Management, what she’ll most remember is the five months she spent in Spain studying at the University of Sevilla.
Colleen will miss living close to her friends, but she looks forward to traveling and visiting them around the country.
Marissa and Colleen are both considering pursuing master’s degrees in the future, which comes as no surprise to anyone who knows them. For our part, we’re happy they’ve chosen to call MacKay Sposito home and we look forward to their continued contributions.
Congratulations Marissa and Colleen! Cue the band!
