Last Friday I had the privilege of walking the bank of the Willamette River with one of our impressive Construction Managers, Jason Irving. Jason has been working for the Portland Parks & Recreation Division as the City's eyes and ears on site for the past two years. He has been joined in his inspection and management responsibilities by our Landscape Architect and Project Manager, Jim Sandlin. Together they are a dynamic duo down at the South Waterfront Greenway project in Portland, Oregon.
A little perspective - the South Waterfront is one of the largest and most expensive re-development projects in the City. This 38-acre area includes 3,000 residential units, 1 million feet of office space and 150,000 sq. ft. of retail space. That's a lot of residents, neighbors and business owners who are particularly interested in paying attention to the construction activities in their front yard. These dynamics create for an interesting construction project.
And, Jason and Jim have represented well! The results will undoubtedly be impressive and the residents and community will enjoy these bicycle and walking paths along the river for decades to come. It can be easy to get wrapped up in office meetings but it's the times in which I am with my team mates in the field that I am most proud to be part of the MSi team!
