1GroupThe weekend of October 25th didn't exactly scream "yard work" to most people.  But that didn't deter a large group of volunteers from heading out to Hillsboro for landscaping work on the Josh Sweeney home.  MacKay Sposito continued our involvement with this project and was represented by Adam Goddin, Bob Sable, Jason Irving, John Moore, Steve and Jeri Flowers, and Zack Martin.

The group ended up moving a generator, setting a flag pole, doing carpentry work in the house, planting trees/shrubs and laying sod.  And let me tell you -- WE LAID SOME SOD!  It was a well-run event and we are looking forward to the Key Ceremony scheduled on November 11 where the keys will be turned over to Josh and Amber.

Here's more of the backstory:

What is Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) and who is Josh Sweeney?
HFOT is a non-profit that assists service disabled veterans by building a home designed to allow access to all features.  Many things are difficult to maneuver or out of reach in standard building construction.  Josh Sweeney is a Marine Sergeant who lost both legs during his second deployment to Afghanistan in 2009.  After multiple surgeries and nearly 4 years of rehabilitation, he is looking forward to settling down outside Hillsboro, Oregon with his wife, Amber.  More info:

How has MacKay Sposito been involved so far?

Survey / Design / Permitting Assistance - A handful of our staff has volunteered their time to perform a topographic survey, property boundary work, civil site design and assistance obtaining the county grading permits.

Groundbreaking Ceremony - In April we attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the build.

Volunteer Day - Last weekend we got a little dirt on our hands.

We look forward to sharing pictures of the key ceremony very soon - thanks to all who participated!
